About Me

MY PHILOSOPHY

I am not your average massage therapist. I am more "athlete meets body nerd" vs. a pampering spa. I believe that good work in the wrong area is NOT good work. I have extensive knowledge of the body, how it moves, and how it works. I am very familiar with many pathologies and injuries, and every stroke/technique/modality that I use has a purpose.

I am a no frills therapist. I don't do hot stones, body scrubs, facials, chakras, or any of those type of services. There is nothing wrong with those services, but that is not my style. When I look at a body I see muscles, movement patterns, and postural patterns, and I see and feel for restrictions. I assess and address different areas in order to get the most desired results out of each session. While my massages are relaxing and you will feel good when you leave, my intention is that you not just feel good but feel better than you did when you walked in. No session is exactly the same because no body is exactly the same. Even the same body on a different day can present completely different or respond completely different.

I'm 100% committed to helping my clients restore movement and remove pain so that they are better able to live happy, healthy, pain-free lives, preferably without painkillers or surgery. I pride myself on attention to detail, good listening skills, and dedication to the individual needs of my clients to help them reach their optimal level of well-being. I am passionate, focused, and committed to getting the most out of every session.

I understand pain very well. "I get it" and have likely experienced it or a similar issue before. I have had 6 knee surgeries (Osteochondritis Dessicans; cadaver bone and cartilage implant, realigned tibia with a plate and 4 screws.) I have also, over the years, overcome many injuries ranging from sprains, strains, tears, tendonitis, bursitis, bulging discs/low back pain, SI Joint issues, plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, neck pain, hip labral tears, and the list goes on. No one wants to be in pain. It is miserable. It changes your attitude and your outlook. It's frustrating and all you want is to feel better and do even just simple tasks, pain-free.

I have a deep passion to help people feel better, get out of pain, and get back to doing the things they want to be doing.

Given my background in the fitness industry, I fully believe that in order for the work that I do in massage to "stick", it is equally important to understand breathing techniques, maintain postural alignment through body awareness, and balance mobility and stability within the body. (I do offer tips and suggestions for things to do in this regard.) This, in turn, yields the most success in gaining functional movement for optimal results and pain-free living.
